London

We headed down to London for one night before starting the journey back to NZ.

Bags dropped at the Easyjet hotel in Barbican (surprisingly larger than expected and good value) we headed off to the Museum of London.  We spent an enjoyable hour browsing some well displayed exhibits.

We popped into St Paul’s and a choral evensong service was about to start and we sat in the Quire (between the choir and the high altar).

Dinner was at the Newman Street Tavern.  A good place to go if in the area, and we had a pleasant meal.

Next morning we went off in the snow to the Borough Market where we were tempted by lots of wonderful food, but couldn’t really buy anything we weren’t able to consume then & there.

It was all a bit cold as we stood in a line for 15 minutes to be admitted to the John Soane museum.  An architect, who collected so much he purchased the house next door to display his treasures.  It was a real treasure trove and a very enjoyable (free) museum.

We also did a return visit to the Wallace collection before heading out to Heathrow for our flight to Singapore.
