Seville

We took the bus through to Seville, a 3 hour drive down the road from Faro.

After getting into our Seville apartment we went to a nice neighborhood tapas bar recommended by the apartment owners. Armed with a menu that had marks beside certain dishes we decided these were recommended and having checked out a few Spanish words in the dictionary I proceeded to try and order them. But it turned they were marked because they were not available . After a stuttering start we finally ended up with a selection of plates and two beers. And the food was fantastic.

We were deliberately staying in an apartment located outside the touristy area and had chosen the residential Macarena area. Around every corner was another church, so many churches. One of the highlights wasn’t the impressive cathedral, rather the neighborhood de-consecrated church that had been restored but was so beautiful.

The cathedral and the views from the bell-tower were lovely, the alcazar nice to visit, but the constant queues and people were not our cup of tea.

We did the other “must-sees” in the city from the ‘mushrooms’ architectural installation and Plaza de Espana. That day is was 36 degrees and we walked way too far in the heat.

And finally a photo where Andrew isn’t wearing the pink shirt that has been in almost every photo until now! And we both our names while wandering around
